關懷海龜保育生態,種下一顆愛與守護的種子

身處海島國家的我們,如果有一天在沙灘上發現遇難的海龜,這時該怎麼辦呢?
英文部本學期很榮幸地邀請到海洋大學從事海龜研究的謝文宜講師,結合ESL 1 Science的Sea Turtle Project,帶著孩子們認識地球上七種海龜的外觀特徵、覓食習性等等,也讓孩子們了解,原來在台灣的近海,就可以看到其中的五種海龜哦!
不過我們也面臨了重要的生態議題,包括海龜的保育與救難。講師透過生動活潑的講座內容與肢體語言,清楚地讓孩子們了解,一旦發現遇難的海龜,我們可以採取的救難SOP流程,同時也讓孩子們體驗如何操作特製的海龜救難擔架。
相信經由這次的講座,一定可以在孩子們的心中種下愛與守護的種子,未來一起為打造永續發展家園盡一份心力。
As residents of an island, what should we do if we encounter a stranded sea turtle on the beach one day?
This semester, we invited Ms. Wen-Yi Hsieh from National Taiwan Ocean University, who specializes in sea turtle research, to collaborate with ESL 1 Science on the Sea Turtle Project. Through this project, children learned about the physical characteristics of the seven species of sea turtles found in the world. Five species of them are seen in the ocean around Taiwan!
However, we are facing important ecological issues related to sea turtle conservation and rescue. Through lively presentations, Ms. Hsieh clearly explained to the children the standard operating procedures (SOP) for rescuing sea turtles. The children also have had the opportunity to experience how to handle a specially designed sea turtle rescue stretcher.
We believe that through this activity, we can plant the seeds of love and protection in the hearts of the children, motivating them to contribute to the creation of a sustainable and thriving home for the future.
